We grind stumps below ground level so you can replant or build on that spot.
Stump removal is what we do after a tree comes down. We bring in a stump grinder, which is a powerful machine that chips the stump and roots into mulch. We grind it about 8-12 inches below the soil surface so the area is usable again. Most stumps in Montgomery are gone in under an hour.
The Montgomery clay soil can be tough on equipment, so we clear the area around the stump first and check for any buried utilities. We also pull out the larger root chunks by hand before grinding. This keeps the grinder moving fast and saves you money. Summer heat means the soil is sometimes harder, so spring and fall jobs tend to move quicker.
When we're done, you're left with a flat, level spot and a pile of mulch you can use in your garden or haul away. No stump, no tripping hazard, no regrowth. You can build a deck, plant new trees, or just mow over the spot like it was never there.

Will the stump grow back?
No. Once we grind it below the soil surface, there's nothing left to sprout. The root system dies off after a few weeks.
What do I do with the mulch you leave behind?
It's yours to keep. Most customers spread it in flower beds or under trees. We can haul it away for an extra fee if you prefer.
How long does stump removal take?
Most stumps take 30 minutes to an hour, depending on size and how deep the roots go. We'll give you a time estimate when we come look at it.
